When preparing for flight we actually think it is best if your pet travel on an empty stomach. The main reason for this is to avoid any problems which could come from gastrointestinal distress caused by motion sickness. We will give your pet a drink of water at the airport before departure. We try not to overfill water containers because water sometimes spills during transit which may make bedding moist. If it is a morning flights, it is advisable to feed pet in the evening prior to the flight but, not to feed the morning before the flight. For an evening flight, we recommend you feed no less than 4-5 hours before to the flight. Moreover, always ensure to have fresh water available and ready for your pet. Your pet is likely to be thirsty after the flight just as you may be, so please provide a drink as soon as you can safely take the pet out of the crate.
It is safe for your pet to travel by air just as it is safe for people. All pet will travel in a special cargo compartment within the aircraft. This compartment is both climate controlled and pressurized for your pet's safety and comfort, and it is on the same air circulation system as the cabin. Older pets and pets with medical conditions may present a higher risk, however generally speaking, a healthy pet going onto an aircraft will be healthy when it gets off. Their crates are secured with straps to prevent any movements during the flight. The area is pressure controlled and temperature controlled by the pilots just as the passenger cabin is.
According to the Animal Welfare Act your pet should be able to sit, stand and move around in its crate as well as have a minimum of 3 inches above the head when standing. We can also assist you in choosing the right size crate for your pets travel. We can also help you in placing your pets to its crate to ensure that pet is well adjusted and very comfortable during the journey. When it comes to some restricted breeds and larger pets we can assist you with the construction of a special customized crate. American Air Logistics Movers Ltd we can provide you with new airline-approved crates, or help you to source one from your local pet store. It is important to use, not necessarily the cheapest crate but, the strongest and most durable one comfortable enough for your pet.
We also try to ship pets on non-stop flights whenever it is possible. But in a situation where a change of plane is necessary, we will choose the best routes that minimizes travel time and provides the maximum safety and comfort for your pet. If your pet will require a long transit flight connection, we can provide everything to make the pet very comfortable and where your pet will be cared for, fed, and watered while waiting for its next flight. Pets with medical conditions may require this kind of comfortable stops so that medication can be administered properly.
COFEPRIS (Mexico Animal Control) and USDA regulations states that if your pets are the same species, under six months of age, and weighing less than (9kg) each, they may travel together in a crate. If not then, each pet will have its own crate. Their crates can always be positioned next to each other in the aircraft. If your pets are traveling between countries outside of the USA and Mexico, this COFEPRIS and USDA requirement may not apply. If so this is the case you will have to contact us first and also speak to our International Pet Relocation Specialist for further regulations surrounding your pets trip to the country where you want pet relocated to.
